All the good news from Miena's!
We've had a very busy summer here in the Glen of Imaal which was actually great to be honest. Like everybody else, we hated being in lockdown even though it was, of course, for the best reasons possible. Let's hope the country can continue to open up – particularly the schools – and that we can get back to some normality in our lives. Safely, of course!
Anyway, we thought we'd update you on a few things that have been happening over the last couple of months. So here's the Miena's news…
Miena's nougat hits Harrods shelves
First of all, we are thrilled to announce that you can now buy our Irish handmade nougat in Harrods of London all year round. This is such a wonderful development for us and has been in the pipeline for some time. Winning prizes for our Simply Better at Dunnes Stores nougat at the Blas na hEireann Irish Food Awards in 2018 brought us to the attention of buyers from Harrods.
They were interested in a Christmas-themed nougat but will now stock our Almond & Pistachio flavour throughout the year. We were really happy with the packaging they designed for the nougat and we hope it's a hit with folk in London.
The new deal has certainly got lots of attention here in Ireland! I was on the CountryWide show on RTE Radio 1 with the lovely Marty Morrissey on Saturday, August 15. That was nerve-wracking but also so much fun. And it was great to be part of what Marty called a 'good news' story. Then the following day, the Business Post did a story on the Harrods deal with some lovely photos. You can read that story here.
We were overwhelmed with all the attention and hope that the interest in our nougat continues to grow. So huge thanks to all of you who have believed in us – and our nougat – over the years.
New flavours launched this summer
We have been working on lots of fab new recipes and we launched three of them this summer! They are: Almond & Pecan, Almond & Passionfruit and Almond, Strawberry & Rhubarb. We loved creating these - and tasting them along the way! - and we love how they turned out. There is nothing better than working on a new flavour, sampling it and then getting feedback on how it tastes. And we think these three new ones really hit the mark. We hope you do too. Look out for them in our stockists nationwide and on our online store.
Big shipment sent to Denmark
We also sent off another large order of our new Pecan & Almond flavour for export to our wonderful partners in Denmark Xocolatl. They do such gorgeous chocolate and we are so proud to work with them. Check them out here: xocolatl.dk.
